Running the London Marathon...with your help!

I am currently training for this year's London marathon. All the talk about the glory days of Little Athletics are now over, and training has well and truly begun.

But I need your generosity to make it happen. I am running on behalf of a charity called Oasis, which just happens to be Jane's work. Oasis pioneers mission, healthcare, education and housing initiatives in the UK and across the globe. This includes running Foyer@Croydon, where Jane works. It's provides temporary housing in a hostel for young people who would otherwise be homeless, while they wait for long-term Government housing.

So Oasis is a very worthy organisation to support. If, however, a worthy cause isn't enough to make you dig deep, set me an incentives (eg. a time target [think 3.5-4 hours], £ per km or something) for either the run or in training. For those of you who don't know, the marathon is 26 miles or 42 kilometres, so not exactly a walk in the park.

I need to raise £2,000 (yes pounds, not dollars, it's around A$4,700) by the time the gun fires, which is Sunday 23 April. So I need your help.

I have set-up a webpage for you to donate directly. It is http://www.justgiving.com/moyley . Remember that it will be in pounds that you will be donating, so divide the Aussie dollar amount you want to donate by 2.35 and you'll get the pound amount to enter on the page. i.e. $23.50 = £10, $47.50 = £20, $95 = £40.

Please donate generously as every single pound (and then some as there are some tax additions for Oasis) goes to Oasis to help them support those that are struggling in all corners of the world. Hassle others too and get them on the site donating. My UK contacts are limited so I'll be relying on the few I know and the Aussie contingent (and Team Sweden, l'ami Peter) to get me over the line.

I will try and update the site with photos and stuff on how my training is going. To give you a feel for my training regime, in the past 5 weeks I
've done about 120 miles (190km) and by the time I cross the finishing line, I will have completed around 385 miles (615km) in around 15 weeks, so around a marathon a week. So you'll be backing a crazy man and a great organisation.

Whichever of those two motivates you to give, please jump on the site and donate: http://www.justgiving.com/moyley

Any problems or questions, drop me a line or give me a call. Thanks!
